HR Social Hour Chat 3/24 – Question Preview

The 2nd #HRSocialHour chat of March 2024 is going to be one for the books. Chris Fitzpatrick (https://www.linkedin.com/in/chrisfitzpatrickspeaks/) is going to lead us through a discussion on ‘The Underutilized Phrases of Workplace Synergy’. I promise, when you read the phrases in question, you’ll think to yourself ‘oh yeah, I hear those all the time at work!’ Join us for this exciting conversation!

Sunday, March 24th @ 7pm EST/6pm CST on Twitter/X. Follow the hashtag #HRSocialHour.

Here is a preview of the questions:

  1. What’s in your glass or on your plate?
  2. “That’s On Me.” What impact can a culture of accountability have on an organization, and how can HR professionals promote this culture while avoiding cultures of blame, scapegoating, and fear?
  3. “I have an idea…” How do you feel about the saying “don’t bring me problems, bring me solutions?” How can we empower employees to think like problem solvers while still getting support from their managers and leaders?
  4. “Thank you for your patience.” Do we overuse apologies in the workplace, and do you think “overapologizing” impacts employee credibility. Evidence suggests that women tend to apologize more than men – is “apology culture” inequitable to our female-identifying employees?
  5. “Does that make sense?” Of the four ways we communicate (verbal, non-verbal, written, listening), do you find that your organizations and leaders listen effectively? How can HR leaders promote active listening practices within their organizations?
  6. “I Need Help.” Do you find that the employees in your organizations struggle to let colleagues know when they need help, and if so, why? Is the “do more with less” culture so pervasive that asking for help is even more difficult, making burnout more likely? How can we support team members dealing with burnout?
  7. “Let’s Celebrate!” What role does recognition and celebration play in your organization? Do you see employee recognition and celebration of even “small” victories” as having a direct impact on morale, retention, and performance? What are your best practices to celebrate your people?
